Balaclava.Q proudly announces a forthcoming two-year collaboration with Queer Art Network on an exhibition titled HE 2017 at Last Projects, Los Angeles, USA, which runs from the 31st of March to the 12th May, 2017.
Art historian and queer theorist, Robert Summers, and Balaclava.Q Founder & Chief Curator, Stiofan O’Ceallaigh, have co-curate the exhibition HE: Questioning and Queering “Masculinity”—which will act as a satellite show for a major, upcoming exhibition in 2018-19.
Alongside leading international queer artists HE has gathered 21 Balaclava.Q stage one contributing artists, and thus realising one of its core objectives; namely, to connect, promote and create platforms for queer artists. All of which would not have been possible without the help, support, inspiration, kindness and generosity given to this project by Robert Summers, PhD, GreenLeaf Gallery, Jack Sanders (Founder of the HOMOSURREALISM movement), Edge Gallery (due to be launched in late 2017) and everyone who has generously shared and donated to the Balaclava.Q GoFundMe.
Also, I want to offer a special thank you to John Hopper, Emmanuel Barrouyer, Gordon Price and Francesco Cavicchioli because of their love, support and motivation, which has kept this initiative moving.
