Spanning eight years (2006-2014), artist Patrick Bartsch wore his signature masks at various biennial, clubbing and exhibition events. This artist’s kind contributions to Stage One of Balaclava.Q are an extensive mixture of self-portraits, oil paintings and documentation of his public interventions as Master Patrick.
Bartsch’s works fit neatly into two art form categories: 1. Live Performance (recorded via photography), respectively titled The 1000 Faces of Master Patrick and 2. Painting.
Let’s start with an overview of The 1000 Faces of Master Patrick / 2006-2014.
Please see below a series of portraits and self-portraits of Master Patrick and photographs of his studio (photographs were taken by himself and other artists – all of which are credited on Bartsch’s personal websites – see bottom of the page for direct links).
Bartsch now dedicates the majority of his time to his paintings; he now only attends events (masked) on special occasions. Below you can see some examples of Bartsch’s oil paintings that fit nicely within Balaclava.Q’s aesthetic (tactics) of obscuring the face.
